The Murray County, Georgia Chapter of the American Red Cross was founded on February 18, 1918. The purpose of this Chapter was to serve the 12,000 men and women that lived in Chatsworth, GA.

In 1939 the Murray County Chapter assisted the Men and Women of the Armed Forces during WW II by providing knitted items, sewing, furnishing bags for the Navy, and by making bandages for our soldiers. This is also the first recorded course in First Aid and Home Nursing taught by this Chapter.

Today the Chapter serves a population of over 40,000 individuals. We provide  Armed Forces Emergency Services Communication to the Men and Women serving in our military, Disaster Services, Health and Safety Classes, Blood Services, and A Community Supported Food Bank and Referral Center. Murray County continues to grow and change as does the American Red Cross and this Chapter.

The Murray County Chapter of the American Red Cross is currently taking applications for volunteers. This Chapter has many opportunities for volunteerism such as assisting in the food bank, becoming part of our Disaster Action Team, or helping to teach life saving classes to the community. If you are interested in becoming a Red Cross Volunteer come by the office, call 706-695-7605, or email tchampion@murrayredcross.com and set up an interview to discuss your interests.
